Meet the candidates for The Apprentice 2016

This year’s series of The Apprentice sees 18 new hopefuls all bidding to become Lord Sugar’s new business partner and walk away with a £250,000 investment, ready to launch a brand new company.
Before the speaker phone calls, scrambled selling and boardroom showdowns get under way, it’s time to meet the latest candidates and find out just who will be vying for top billing in this year’s series.
Michelle Niziol
Michelle is a 35-year-old property consultant. She describes herself as “a workaholic,” calling her attitude “relentless.”
Sofiane Khelfa
Senior salesman Sofiane is 32 years old and describes himself as “ambitious, courageous and [someone that] never gives up.”
Oliver Nohl-Oser
33-year-old Oliver believes that if he was an animal, he would be a pig because they are always “rustling around looking for new places to explore.” He also believes there is no such word as ‘can’t’ and hopes his positivity will win over Lord Sugar.
JD O'Brien
37-year-old JD owns his own beachwear company. He describes himself as “ambitious” and “ready to go.”
Alana Spencer
24-year-old Alana is a self-confessed “rambler.” She describes herself as “incredibly hard-working, driven and focused.”
Trishna Thakrar
28-year-old Trishna is a recruitment agent. She says when people initially meet her they see her as “blunt” and “a little too honest,” but adds that when you get to know her, she is very “likeable.”
Aleksandra King
38-year-old Aleksandra has described herself as “fearless.” She owns her own business consultancy and believes that she is going to blow “everyone and everything out of the water” on her way to achieving her goal.
Samuel Boateng
27-year-old Samuel is a sales manager who oversees more than 700 businesses across London. He believes that Lord Sugar’s investment will go “a long way” when added to his own creativity, ambition and charm.
Jessica Cunningham
29-year-old Jessica believes that you have got to have “high visions”. She is an online entrepreneur who specialises in fashion.
Rebecca Jeffrey
31-year-old Rebecca puts her talkative nature down to her “infectious enthusiasm.” Professionally, she owns her own design and marketing agency.
Natalie Hughes
30-year-old Natalie is a salon owner from Glasgow. She won the Scottish ‘Salon of the Year’ award and is a “hard-worker” who thinks “out of the box.”
Frances Bishop
25-year-old Frances describes herself as a “little pocket rocket.” She is married to a professional footballer but sees herself as an “anti-WAG,” believing that you should have “your own independence” regardless of who you are married to.
Courtney Wood
If someone was to play Courtney in a film, Courtney believes it would be Leonardo DiCaprio. He is a 29-year-old owner of a novelty gift company and thinks it will be “pretty easy” for him to win this year’s Apprentice.
Paul Sullivan
Describing himself as a “man’s man,” 38-year-old Paul owns his own marketing agency. He believes there are a lot of similarities between himself and Lord Sugar and hopes that this will help him in his bid to become the tycoon’s latest apprentice.
Karthik Nagesan
33-year-old Karthik owns his own IT consultancy. He refers to himself as “the Big K” and believes that “everyone else wants to be like [him].”
Grainne McCoy
31-year-old Grainne describes herself as “talkative and outgoing.” She owns her own makeup studio and claims to have been “born with [the] drive and enthusiasm” that will see her emerge victorious from this year’s show.
Dillon St. Paul
37-year-old Dillon believes that he can charm people into achieving his business dream. He is an art director from Dublin and describes himself as “Machiavellian,” adding that “batting the lashes can get you a lot in business.”
Mukai Noiri
Digital marketing manager Mukai came from Japan in 2011 in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear blast. He believes he is the most “internationally-minded” candidate, having lived in Egypt, India and the UK, as well as Japan.
