Production company, Epix, has ordered a 10-episode series based on Jöel Dicker’s hugely successful 2012 novel, The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair. Penned by Lyn Greene and Richard Levine, and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud (Seven Years in Tibet), the series follows Marcus Goldman, a young author whose former lecturer, Harry Quebert, becomes the prime suspect in a murder case.
Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) has been cast as the titular Harry Quebert, and Ben Schnetzer (Pride) will play Marcus Goldman.
“Joel Dicker’s exquisite thriller has captivated a worldwide audience with its complicated tale of love and lies. I am thrilled that this first class ensemble cast led by Patrick Dempsey and the incomparable director Jean-Jacques Annaud, get to bring provocative page-turner to life,” said Steve Stark, MGM’s president of television production and development.
“It is a rich and nuanced novel set in a small New-England town and has all the elements for a classic mystery,” director, Annaud, said. “Having MGM … as my partners has given me the ability to assemble a formidable cast and a talented crew. Their enthusiasm for ‘Harry Quebert’ is equal to my own,” said Annaud.
Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl), Virginia Madsen (Designated Survivor) and newcomer Kristine Froseth have also been cast, as Sgt. Perry Gahalowood, Tamara Quinn, and Nola Kellergan respectively.
