ITV’s hit TV show Love Island has captured the hearts of the British nation. Millions sit down each evening to watch the all unfold, however, love isn’t the only topic that has caused chaos on the show! We’ve decided to take a look at some of the biggest shocks that have come from both inside and outside of life in the famous villa.
Flack out, Whitmore in
Caroline Flack, the face of Love Island, stepped down after an altercation with her ex-boyfriend and numerous court appearances. The host took to Instagram to explain to Love Island fans why she was leaving the show and that the lives of both herself and her family are no longer up for entertainment and gossip. She was replaced by Laura Whitmore for the first winter series.
2020 Love Island candidate Ollie Williams removed himself from the villa, claiming that he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend. There were some suggestions that he had an ulterior motive after some fans had taken to Twitter asking for him to be removed after pictures of him hunting animals were shared online.
Michael and Ellie
During his time in Love Island, Michael Griffiths was the person that we all loved to hate after recoupling with Joanna Chimonides in Casa Amor. Sadly, the two didn’t work out and Michael later hit the headlines when he revealed that he was dating Love Island and Ex on the Beach star Ellie Brown – Joanna’s best friend!
Zara Holland's Miss Great Britian title removed
Former Miss Great Britain Zara Holland became the star of the show after her antics with Alex Bowen in the ‘hideaway’. After their ‘special’ night, she had her crown removed as she no longer fit the profile for Miss Great Britain, according to pageant officials.
Jack Fincham becoming a dad
In 2018 Jack Fincham, a pen salesman from Essex, stole the show after declaring his love for Dani Dyer. The couple went on to win the show and date for a while after picking up the £50,000 prize.
Fincham has recently shared on Instagram that he has become a dad, however, it’s the dates that make this story scandalous as his baby girl was born exactly nine months after he split up with Dani…
Dani Dyer: Love or Fame
After winning the show with Jack, Dani Dyer made the most of her newfound fame, making clothing deals, TV appearances and even getting into acting.
After the love between Dani and Jack died down, she ran back to the arms of her ex-boyfriend Sammy Kimmence, making fans wonder if she was really on the programme for love or for fame.
Craig Lawson's abandonment
Season 3’s Craig Lawson created one of Love Island’s most shocking headlines. According to his ex-partner, he left her with two kids to go on the show to find fame, apparently not telling them anything!
The Irish beauty was a polarising figure in the villa, some loved her and others hated her.
She quickly set her sights on hunk Tommy Fury and made numerous sexual remarks to try and win him over.
Love Island fans took to Twitter complaining that if the sexual acts and comments were made the other way round, then Tommy would have been removed from the villa.
Marcel cheating on Gabby
Blazin Squad’s proudest member Marcel Somerville found love in the villa with fitness enthusiast Gabby Allen. Their relationship was the picture of perfection, the nation was swooning, but it wasn’t enough for the singer.
It was revealed that he had cheated on her while on holiday after messages were found of him arranging to meet another girl when Gabby was busy elsewhere.
Malin vs Olivia
After previously not getting on in the villa, Olivia Buckland threw shade at Malin Andersson during an MTV interview claiming she couldn’t remember her name, with Alex Bowen chiming in saying she was irrelevant!
Sherif Lanre's exit
One day he was there, the next he was gone without a single acknowledgement.
Last season’s Love Island saw Sherif Lanre axed after an apparent altercation with Molly-Mae, it has never been discussed as to why he was removed, other than ITV’s statement of him ‘breaking rules’.
Prince Harry's Ex
Camilla Thurlow took everybody by surprise in Love Island when it was revealed that she used to date Prince Harry.
The blonde beauty that was participating in kissing trials could have been part of the Royal Family. Some viewers weren’t impressed with Thurlow being on the show.
Sophie Gordon and Mike Thalassitis
There are many perks of Love Island, the fame and the possibility of finding love.
Sadly, after taking part in the show, two contestants took their lives and ITV were slammed for the lack of aftercare for the contestants.
Both Sophie Gordon and Mike Thaliassitis sadly committed suicide after their time in the villa.
Adam Collard's emotional abuse
During his time in the villa, Adam Collard had the pick of the bunch, making the girls swoon over him.
Rosie Williams was one of few who put him down a peg or two after accusing him of gaslighting and emotional abuse. Viewers rallied around Rosie after the outburst, praising her for sticking up for women.
